Applications are sought for Klamath County’s tourism grant program, which assists local event planners and tourism-focused businesses in promoting tourism in Klamath County, according to a news release.

The grants are for promotion of events that increase tourism within the county. Projects should identify a target market and offer a specific strategy for reaching this market. Funding for the program comes from the transient room tax administered by the Klamath County Tax Collector.

Applications will be accepted Sept. 1, through 5 p.m. Sept. 30. All applicants must attend a Marketing 101 class at 2 p.m. Sept. 10, in room 214 at the Klamath County Government Center. The Tourism Advisory Review Panel, a seven-member panel appointed by the commissioners, will review the applications and make recommendations to the commissioners. The panel will recommned applications and funding levels to the commissioners, who will then make the final decision for awarding funds.

Information regarding the grant program is available at www.klamathcounty.org/199/Tourism-Grant-Program. For more information, call the Klamath County Finance Office at 541-883-4202.
