OEDA Selects Running Y Ranch for Annual Fall Conference Location

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Oregon Economic Development Association (OEDA) Selects Running Y Ranch Resort as 2018 Annual Conference Location

Klamath Falls, OR (August 2nd, 2017) – Following a statewide proposal process seeking sites for consideration, the Oregon Economic Development Association (OEDA), recently announced that the Running Y Ranch Resort has been selected to host 2018 OEDA’s Annual Conference this upcoming fall. Historically the OEDA conference is a gathering for development stakeholders from across the state, aimed to form regional connections and gain insight on emerging trends, best practices, new technology, and learn about innovative resources that are available to help communities enhance their local economies.

The proposal process for the conference began in early January of this year, where immediately, Running Y representatives expressed interest in trying to land the event. Discussing what motivated their pursuit for holding the conference locally, Running Y Manager, George Rogers, stated, “One of our strategic goals is to help further development and economic prosperity in Klamath. We frequently partner with groups like KCEDA to help put the opportunities our community offers on display, and the Running Y gives good exposure to the basin, particularly through events such as this.”

Partnering with Running Y, the Klamath County Economic Development Association (KCEDA) worked closely in recruiting the conference to Klamath. Preparing a preliminary concept of assistance and services that could be provided, KCEDA submitted a letter of support with the Running Y proposal. In the letter, KCEDA outlined the area’s ability to assist in logistical planning of the conference, the area’s ability to present dynamic and innovative businesses within the community, and local assets/attractions for conference attendees to engage with during their visit. Between now and when the conference takes place, KCEDA and Running Y will be collaborating regularly with OEDA on the composition of the conference.

Greg O’Sullivan, CEO of KCEDA, commented about the location decision and what it indicates about the rest of Oregon’s growing appreciation of the area, saying, “I cannot speak higher of the Running Y and its facilities. They are a tremendous partner of our organization, and an excellent resource for helping us attract people from throughout the nation to pay attention to where Klamath is going. It is gratifying to see associations like OEDA, that represent stakeholders from all over our state, are starting to recognize this area is doing things. We are glad we could help the Running Y on this proposal, and are excited to provide them support in the conference planning that lies ahead.”

The conference is set to take place October 7th – 9th. Additional details regarding the conference will be provided in the coming weeks.
